You can only use NIS+ on tructed systems. NIS is not supported.

To clarify supported versus unsupported commands: backend commands are not recommended for general use. Generally, if a command has no man page, it is likely not designed for customer usage. The reason is that it may changed or removed without notice.
Will Response Center support the command? Define what you mean by 'support'...if you mean that a failure of the command to work as you expect or as it once did, then it is not supported. If you mean that the command has a problem working with the tools that call it (such as SAM) then yes, the comand is supported in that context.
