10.20 server. Everything appears operational
with the exception of running rsync as a daemon
using the command "rsync --daemon". The command does not produce any errors, I have checked all the logs I can find, yet there is
no process.
On my 11.0 servers I have a process running indicating a successful execution "rsync --daemon".
Question: Has anyone an explanation of this behavior?

SolutionYou could check this configuration page.
http://samba.anu.edu.au/ftp/rsync/rsyncd.conf.html
are both servers running rsync 2.5.6 ?
latest is 2.6.2

Re: rsync version 2.5.6 on HPUX 10.20
Thanks for responding. I have followed the
steps as indicated in reference one. When executing 'rsync --daemon' the result is
a non-incident. Not even an error.
No the 11.00 servers are running 2.6.2. The
source you indicated is where it came from and it should be noted that 10.20 is not listed there.

seems the "daemon" mode has been added to the latest version of rsync. I can't find a 10.20 compiled version for you. The only option left is to compile it from source yourself.
The source is also available from the link in my previous answer.
