serrious necro post here, but I had the same issue as the others here. My Solution:
log in using any password to be a guest
at the root promt type lib and press Enter
using the code that is displayed in the console promt, find your match in the table below and enter that code:

22. fault - Configure event log severity fault threshold.
23. teltime - Get and set the telnet timeout value.
24. except - View and clear CPU exception information
25. engfile - Get and set access to eng level file upload
26. mac - Configure the ethernet MAC address.
27. sn - Configure the unit serial number.
28. tftp - Load new config files using TFTP.

From here you can issue clrpass or clrffs commands t clear password and flash
From here press .. and Press Enter to go back a menu

3. default - Set to factory default.
4. port - Go to port configuration sub-menu.
5. password - Change administrative password.
6. load - Go to load balancing configuration sub-menu.
7. trunk - Go to trunking configuration sub-menu.
8. network - Go to network configuration sub-menu.
9. zone - Go to zone configuration sub-menu.

Option 5 to reset Password still asks for current password, so Im guessing 'password" is not the default, but...we can still config all paramiters of the switch I think...

After a little more messing, I found the default password to be hpservice
Hope this helps someone else out there.
