HP P2000 G3 Disk replacement

Hello.

I'm have HP p2000 G3 system.

In this system one of an array builded as raid 10 from 8x2Tb SATA drives. Few days ago one of disk has failed and need to be replaced.

We buy new disk. It's same size 2Tb, but different interface, and i can't assign it as a hotspare for degraded array.

At specs http://h18000.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/13551_div/13551_div.html i can see tis two types of 2Tb Drives:

1.

HP P2000 2TB 3G SATA 7.2K LFF MDL Hard Drive

AW556A
AW556B

2.

HP P2000 2TB 6G SAS 7.2K LFF (3.5-inch) Dual Port MDL Hard Drive

AW555A

Should I use (buy again) drive with same interface (SATA 3G) or i can use new drive with SAS interface in the old array of SATA drives?

Re: HP P2000 G3 Disk replacement

Hiya,

In the front of the disks you can see a "Spare number". When you change a disk you must use disks with the same "spare number". Using it you make sure it'll work.

I hope you'll be able to return the disk purchased :$

Cheers.
