Install HP Storage Router(Bridge) A4689A on Windows 2000
I would like to use a HP Storage Router(FC/SCSI Bridge 1/2)with HP LTO 1/9 Autoloader and Windows 2000 Advanced Server. (W2K(QLA-2200 FC HBA) --> A4689A --> HP LTO 1/9(LVD/SE)). When I try to install Storage Router(Bridge), the Windows does not recognized HP Bridge. The Windows required Bridge Driver file. So, I try to download the driver file from HP Web but there are no driver file. Only Firmware of Bridge and Diagonestic file are loaded on Driver download site.
1. Can I use A4689A bridge on Windows 2000?
2. Where can I download the driver file?
3. Does A4689A recognized by W2K without driver file?
Everybody Happy New Years in 2003.
Regards,
Jamesdal

Re: Install HP Storage Router(Bridge) A4689A on Windows 2000
- http://www.hp.com/products1/storage/products/san/scsibridges/fc4_1/overview/index.html ;
- check that bridge has latest firmware;
- try playing with Qlogic card bios settings (or use Qlconfig utility), check its drivers and bios to be the latest;
- giude is at http://www.hp.com/cposupport/manindex/hpsurestor23258_eng_man.html . Read page 178. QLA-2200F is supported (pg 48), but unfortunately no info how to configure it.
Hope it helps

Re: Install HP Storage Router(Bridge) A4689A on Windows 2000
1. The Bridge's F/W is 008e
2. The QLA-2200 HBA working properly. I checked it working with Brocade Silkworm-2800. Also, the HBA has latest Bios
3. Does HP provide the Bridge's W2K driver or the Bridge no need W2K Driver?

Re: Install HP Storage Router(Bridge) A4689A on Windows 2000
here's e-mail from HP expert Eric de Lange
*************************
1. Can I use A4689A bridge on Windows 2000?
Yes, no problems. The FC Bridge is a 'transparent' device which does not require drivers although Windows 2000 thinks otherwise. Just disabling the device in device manager should be enough;
2. Where can I download the driver file?
There is none. See 1;
3. Does A4689A recognized by W2K without driver file?
As said, although windows finds a device, it does need a driver. Windows speaks to the attached devices via the SCSI layer which is transported over FC. Therefore the OS does not need to speak with the FC Bridge directly.
