MSA 1040 FC connecting to Cisco 3560G-48
Hello,
Could someone advice me how to connect a new MSA 1040 FC dual controllers to an existing Cisco 3560G-48 switch. I need help in choosing SFP modules for Cisco switch to operate with MSA FC. MSA operates at 8Gb speeds, and Cisco support only 1Gb FC SFP, so i have my doubts about their connectivity.
Appreciate any help.

Re: MSA 1040 FC connecting to Cisco 3560G-48
From user guide:
For MSA 1040: Host ports are configured to 8-Gbit/s FC, 10-Gbit/s iSCSI, or 1-Gbit/s iSCSI with the appropriate, qualified
SFPs installed. The protocol (FC or iSCSI) and speed cannot be changed. 10-Gbit/s SFPs may be removed in favor of
qualified Direct Attached Copper (DAC) cables. For a 2-port SAS controller module, host ports can be configured to use
fan-out cables or standard cables.
Consider a direct connect between the server and array or better a newer switch.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: MSA 1040 FC connecting to Cisco 3560G-48
If your MSA have 8GB SFP it is Operating with FC (Fibre Channel) Protocol and will no work with an Ethernet Switch.
As Torsten said you have 3 Options:
- change the MSA from FC to iSCSI
- buy a FC Switch
- direct connect the Server with FC to the MSA (need of FC HBA in the Server)

Re: MSA 1040 FC connecting to Cisco 3560G-48
Option 1 will be difficult, because you need new controllers. The SFP are fixed in this model and cannot be swapped.
Hope this helps!

Torsten.
