When trying to update my firmware from GL101R001 to GL210R004 it says "an newer version of the firmware allready install, want to downgrade?
I think this is an fault message, the firmware GL101R001 ist from September 2013, the GL210 ist from July 2015.
Any help here?
Is it ok to upgrade without firmware steps between?
Best regards

The Update from GL101R001 to GL105P003 was done. Everything fine with this version.
The Update to the final firmware GL210R004 failed.

Re: MSA2040 Firmware update error Message
Thanks, i will give it a try today night.
By having only one controller at this MSA2040, its not possible to try the update process during working hours.
Me being from Germany, a call is not necessary.

Update MSA2040 Firmware update error Message
Managed to update to GL200P002
Messages show below.
Storage Controller firmware was installed successfully. (new version: GLS200R12-01)
The Management Controller booted up. MC firmware version: GLM200R017-01
Everything booted up fine, v2 ist fully functional.
But when trying to update to GL210R004, still the same error shows up:
The Intaller says: "A newer Version of this firmware already installed...)
Im on a dead end here, perhaps i should contact HP support.

Re: MSA2040 Firmware update error Message
My understanding of this advisory
http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=emr_na-c04714455&sp4ts.oid=243739
is - try the update again.
According to the release notes to steps are neccessary.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: Update MSA2040 Firmware update error Message
In Addition to my last post, here you can see the logfile entrys:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------- Setup Session Beginned on 22.07.2015 - 23:09:46 --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Command Line Parameters Given: Controller IP is :192.168.179.25 Beginning Interactive Session... Name: Online ROM Flash Component for Windows - HP MSA 1040/2040 Storage Arrays New Version: GL200P002 The software is installed but is not up to date. Current Version: GL105P003 Device flash Successful - MSA 2040 SAS : Controller A Detailed log in :MSA2000_192_168_179_25.log The operation was successful. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Session Ended on 22.07.2015 - 23:31:51 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
@ Thorsten: this update from GL105P003 to GL200P002 went all fine,
the advisory in http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=emr_na-c04714455&sp4ts.oid=243739 is about different versions of component firmware versions, but in this machine, all firmwares match.
The real problem shows below. The Updater thinks that GL200P002 ist newer than GL210R004 and does not start the update process. Strange behavior. Perhaps a wrong date stamp in the GL210R004 firmware updater?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------- Setup Session Beginned on 22.07.2015 - 23:32:35 --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Command Line Parameters Given: Controller IP is :192.168.179.25 Beginning Interactive Session... SolutionI have never seen such issue before, but I never use the windows installer tool.
Consider to unpack the bundle and use the *.bin file with ftp (see release notes for instructions).
Disable PFU and update the controllers ony by one.
This always worked for me.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
