P2000 G3: Modify Vdisk Owner causes VMware PDL
Hi,
I've been testing out (our first) HP P2000 G3 10Gb iSCSI. Performance is very good (22 disk Raid-50) in IOmeter, read, write, random, etc.
When doing failover tests with ESX 5.1:
- using 2 9000Mb/s vmk interfaces
- PSP: Round Robin
- SATP: VMW_SATP_ALUA
- 4 Active paths, 2 servicing I/O
I get good results when I:
- Shut down a controller
- Disconnect one or all 10Gb network ports on the controller
- Restart a controller.
However, when I move the vDisk from Controller-A to Controller-B I got a PDL (Permanent Device Loss) on the ESX server and things go to hell.
I should be able to move a vDisk to the other controller without causing an outage, right?
Ben

Re: P2000 G3: Modify Vdisk Owner causes VMware PDL
Hi,
I have this problem as well on a P2000 G3 SAS SAN, restart controller etc works great.
But when changing the owner manually, I have to do a rescan on the controller in VMWARE to get the volume up again
