Hello to all. I have an MSA2321I storage with SAS and SATA disks.
Two of the SATA disks seem to have problems and I want to change them. Currently I have 4 Seagate Barracuda ST3500320NS 500GB disks.
I cannot find the particular diks but instead I found two Seagate's BARRACUDA 7200.12 500GB ST500DM002. Will they "match" with the othe two in the RAID array? Am I giong to have any problem?

SolutionHello George,
I aplogize for the confusion concerning this forum.
This is not a hardware forum, but it is a forum for the HP Storage Essentials or the new Storage Operations Manager software products. We work with monitoring and managing your storage infrastructure, but do not directly support the hardware itself.

I will not be able to provide you an "Official" answer to your question.
With that said, let me provide you with some information that I found for your question.
Seagate Barracuda drive ST3500320NS has the following specs:
Size: 500GB
Form Factor: 3.5 in
Interface: Serial ATA-300 (3gb)
Rotational Speed: 7200 RPM
Buffer Size: 32MB
Product Manual: http://www.seagate.com/staticfiles/support/disc/manuals/NL35%20Series%20&%20BC%20ES%20Series/Barracuda%20ES.2%20Series/100468393f.pdf
Seagate Barracuda drive ST500DM002 has the following specs:
Size: 500GB
Form Factor: 3.5 in
Interface: Serial ATA-600 (6gb)
Rotational Speed: 7200 RPM
Buffer Size: 16MB
Product Manual: http://www.seagate.com/staticfiles/support/docs/manual/desktop/Barracuda%207200.14/100686584.pdf
While the size, form factor and the rotational speed of the SATA drives are the same, they differ on Interface Speed and Buffer Size. This may work fine but it could also encounter different issues due to these differences. If this is a lab or test environment, you may consider giving it a try. If this is a production environment, I would not run the risk but obtain either the same drive model or completely change the four drives.
In searching for this information, I did find that both of these drive models are available for purchase on Amazon.com for $52 or less with free shipping.
I hope that this information is helpful.
Please let us know if you have any other questions or concerns.
Regards,
Mark Butler

Re: SATA Disks on MSA2321i
Hello Mark,
thank you very much for your answer.
It's me that I have to apologize!
I was too hasty and I didn't realize I was in the software section.
Sorry
