We're going to be upgrading our EVA6400 soon by adding additional trays and disks. We would like to know the minimum amount of disks that should be placed in each tray. This would be for Best Practice. The trays hold 12 drive bays so would 4 disks per tray be sufficient or should it be 8 or more per tray?

SolutionHey, should be the same as for the EVA4400:
Only post I found about this on the forum.
Training material isn't specific about it (just says minimum is 6 in the whole system because it supports SSDs), four might be the minimum amount of disks per shelf, that's what it says for the EVA8100/6100/4100.

Re: Best Practice For Number Of Drives In An EVA6400 Disk Tray
Thanks for your response Johan. I also received a response from an HP Engineer that has run many of our EVA upgrades. He sent me an EVA Disk Placement Document which explains only one disk per tray as the minimum.

Re: Best Practice For Number Of Drives In An EVA6400 Disk Tray
"Enterprise Virtual Array configuration best practices white paper"
and you will find a good documentation.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
