EVA4000 connectivity for VMware Esx4.0
Hi everyone , I have some trouble with EVA4000 connectivity for VMware.
I have a HBA(pn:AE311A) installed on the dell R710. The R710 is the VMware server.
VMware server connect to EVA4000 by FC switch and HBA. The WWN of HBA is not in the world wide port name(WWPN) list when I configure host in EVA.I enter the WWN manually and create Vdisk. But VMware can not access the Vdisk.
I can find something about HBA in VMware server. The HBA requires drivers?
06:00.0 Fibre Channel: QLogic Corp ISP2432-based 4Gb Fibre Channel to PCI Express HBA (rev 03)
Subsystem: Hewlett-Packard Company Unknown device 7040
Flags: bus master, fast devsel, latency 0, IRQ 39
I/O ports at ec00 [size=256]
Memory at df2fc000 (64-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=16K]
Expansion ROM at df200000 [disabled] [size=256K]
Capabilities: [44] Power Management version 2
Capabilities: [4c] Express Endpoint IRQ 0
Capabilities: [64] Message Signalled Interrupts: 64bit+ Queue=0/4 Enable-
Capabilities: [74] Vital Product Data
Capabilities: [7c] MSI-X: Enable- Mask- TabSize=16
Any suggestion ? I just want the VMware server can access the EVA4000.
P.S. This thread has been moved from General to Storage Area Networks (SAN) (Enterprise). - Hp Forum Moderator

Re: EVA4000 connectivity for VMware Esx4.0
Hi, on the SAN-switch did you zone the FC HBA with the EVA4000?
It's also possible to select an OS on the host when you are creating it in Command View.
Did you run rescan in VMWare? According to one white paper on vmware.com sometimes you need to do it twice.
Here are a few white papers for HP and VMWare:
http://h71019.www7.hp.com/ActiveAnswers/cache/71088-0-0-0-121.html
If you go to HP SPOCK:
http://h20272.www2.hp.com/Index.aspx#array_os_eva
It lists XCS 6.200 and 6.240 with EVA4000 and VMWare ESX 4.0 - are you on that high enough firmware?
