HP SIM can't see storage systems - ESX - MSA

We have 2x dl380g5 with QLOGIC HBA cards HPAE311A
ESX works fine
But... in the HP SIM in the storage section - external storage connections (HBA), in "storage systems" is NONE
Normally i should see here the MSA

(I have another config with EMULEX and that works fine and i can see the drives and msa in hp sim propery - corekit + emulex .so file...)

I installed/copied the API from qlogic without result.

(Screenshots in attachment; The emulex is the green one above, qlogic system below)

Anyone an idea?

Did you do a "service hpsmhd stop;service hpasm stop" before installing the QLAPI and restarting them afterwards?

Did you run the 'Install.sh' script (I have not looked into it - maybe it does a simple copy ;-)

There is also a 'hbaapitest' test which gives some information.

I did all your steps, also 'ldconfig' without result.

I can't get 'hbaapitest' to work?

More info;
DL380g5 with latest firmwares (fw cd 8.40)
agents 780 790 810 811 tested, no result.
Also mnmgnt300, no result.

What do you mean you can't get it to work?
Any error message when you run it with "./"?

below the result. and the hbaapitest file is the current folder. (version esx = 3.02)

To get HPSIM to see HBA's or Storage devices you might want to consider SMI-S providers.

However your screen shots are talking about System Management Homepage external storage connections.

MSA uses Array configuration utilities and SNMP storage agents should gather this information from the MIBs to present inside SMH.

Suggest your reinstall the Proliant Support Pack, and Qlogic drivers for ESX and make sure the SNMP services are set correctly.

IE
"Public" community string with
Localhost or 127.0.0.1 access in both security and trap alert sections.

Restart your SNMP service and I think you will find your storage just like your emulex adapters.

Yep, it's HP SMH.

The only thing from hp that i can find is
- HP Management Agents for VMware ESX Server 3.x
- HP System Management Homepage for Linux (x86)

I can't find a proliant support pack for ESX.
In the other linux sections there is a PSP. Do i really have to install that? Is that stable for the ESX? And what version should i install?
Or do i just need a part of it?

The service console is a special VM running a paravirtualized striped-down Linux. Please do not install the PSP - you risk overwriting critical components.
