HP San Archiving
Dear,
At the moment we a HP SAN with 2TB data. A lot of data is not used anymore last years. We are looking for software archiving solution.
I found already information about Commvault and Symantec but I was wondering if there is a HP Software Solution which runs (on top of) on the HP SAN itself ?
Kind regards,
Kenny

Re: HP San Archiving
Hello Kenny,
take a look at the HP File Migration Agent. This software is installed on one or more filservers and is able to migrate files to a FTP/ CIFS/ HP IAP. Only small (4kb) stub files will reside in the file system. The migration/ release/ recall is transparent for the user. Perfect solution for archiving data policy-based to low-cost storage.
Regards,
Patrick

Re: HP San Archiving
Thanks for the quick answer !
If I understand the HP File Archiving software (new name for HP File Migration Agent) is running on a dedicated server (like Symantec and Commvault) and not on top of the SAN Storage?
Kenny
