Losing all connection to array when one or more paths are disconnected.
Hi All,
Recently I have had a couple of situations where a host has lost all access to its LUN's when one or more paths are disconnected.
The hosts have both been 64bit windows, connected to different arrays, EVA and XP, with both Emulex and Qlogic HBA's. Both have the 64bit version of the relevant MPIO DSM installed and have had 8 paths presented with load balancing enabled.
On the first occasion we had a 64 bit SQL cluster which had 8 paths presented from an XP24K. We had a problem on one path but were unable to see any LUN's down any path. When the problem path was resolved the cluster came back up.
On the second occasion we again had a 64Bit SQL cluster which had 8 paths to an EVA8100. We removed 7 of the paths ( in the course of migrating to a new fabric) leaving one operational path but again the cluster failed. All of our 32bit clusters remained fully operational.
Has anyone had any issues with MPIO on 64bit OS?
Any experiences or advice would be appreciated.
D
