NFS/CIFS

Does the EVA provide native CIFS/NFS support?

or does this require the additional purchase of EVA-file services?

Thanks

Re: NFS/CIFS

The EVA system alone is a Fibre Channel block server.

EVA file services is a complete solution with one or more NAS heads attached to an EVA.

Re: NFS/CIFS

Thanks Uwe,

So in other words if a customer wishes to make NFS/CIFS volumes availble via an EVA the file service option will need to be implemented?

If for instance a linux server was presented a standard EVA vdisk , could it not enable an NFS share on that Vdisk?

Thanks

Re: NFS/CIFS

Sure, even a plain Windows or Linux server can translate the EVA blocks to a CIFS or NFS share. I just wanted to point out that the EVA controllers can't do it.

Re: NFS/CIFS

Perfect thanks Uwe.
The customer wanted to make sure he could FTP between various Solaris hosts that would be EVA attached using NFS.

Looks like that wont be an issue.

Thanks again
