Re: SAN switch 8/24 firmware

Hi William,

its probably a good idea to check the compatibility matrix on SPOCK (http://www.hp.com/storage/spock) before deciding to go for 6.2.2d or 6.4.0c.

The switch stream document is available here:
http://h20272.www2.hp.com/utility/document.aspx?docurl=Shared%20Documents/hw/switches/B-Series_FC_Switch_Connectivity_Stream_2010_10_22.pdf

My opinion would be to go for 6.4.x stream unless there is something which is incompatible with this version, all future releases could be on 6.4.x and 6.3.x.

Thanks,
Rajiv

Re: SAN switch 8/24 firmware

Sorry to Interupt,

i have Brocade SAN switch 4/24 with firmware 5.3.0d and i downloaded the following

v/5.3.1 , v.5.3.1a , v6.0.1a and v6.2.2c

to upgrade the firmware step by step.. the switch requires the folder 'SWBD77' but only v6.2.2c has the desired folder for firmware upgrade but other downloaded files doesnt have this folder hence am unable to upgrade the switch firmware. pls advise..

Re: SAN switch 8/24 firmware

Hello,

the upgrade path from 5.3.0d is:

5.3.0d -> 6.0.x -> 6.1.x -> 6.2.x -> 6.3.x -> 6.4.x
You do not need to worry about individual sub-folders. When the fimrware image is unpacked on your ftp-server, you just specify the main folder, e.g. /v6.0.1a/release.plist in the firmwaredownload command.
You cannot go from 6.0 -> 6.2 or from 6.2. to 6.4 in one step. You must use the versions in between (6.1 and 6.3, respectively)
From 5.3 you can go directly to 6.0

Re: SAN switch 8/24 firmware

What is the upgrade path from  v6.1.0c to v7.2.1a? Do I need to go 7.0 first?

6.1.x -> 6.2.x -> 6.3.x -> 6.4.x -> 7.0.x -> 7.1.x > 7.2.1a
