the vdisk's have this write back cache status:
Requested: Write-back
Actual: Unknown

is this "unknown" normal?
Thank's

Re: eva5000 write back status unknown

No, you should have:

Requested: Write-back
Actual: Write-back

BTW, firmware 3020 is very old, and has been out of support for years.

Re: eva5000 write back status unknown

Hi,

Do the cache batteries have a good status ?

That might affect the cache status...

Cheers,

Re: eva5000 write back status unknown

Thank's

I have noticed a low voltage condition on one HSV on one eva. But all the vdisk's even on EVA with no erros have their write-back cache status "unknown"

Re: eva5000 write back status unknown

I have checked one of the early compatibility tables (July 2006) and it lists VCS V3.028 as earliest for CV-EVA V6.0. There have always been made little changes in the communication between the controller firmware and CV-EVA - it is quite possible that "Unknown" is shown because a tag name as changed and CV expects the new name.

Re: eva5000 write back status unknown

Hi,
the following cache policies are applied on eva 3k/5k:
1. if the system battery on any controller is bad and
a)if the system battery on the second controller is bad too, there is no data disk presentation
b)if the second controller system battery low, all disks writethrough on the second controller
c)if the second controller system battery good, all disks writeback on the second controller

2. if the system battery on any controller is low and if the second controller system battery good, all disks writeback on the second controller.

3.
a) if both controller system battery low, all disks writethrough on both controllers

b) if both controller system battery good, all disks writeback on both controllers

the pain is one part of the reality

Re: eva5000 write back status unknown

Very interesting thank's,
But in my case the staus "unknown" is also on the second EVA5000 that has no battery low condition.
