Re: xp24000 storage

Bhujang,
1. B4 is combination of 4 diskshelves used in creating a disk_group (R5 diskgroup will have 3 data and 1 parity; R1 will have 2 data and 2 mirrors; remember that each drive is coming from a shelf in same B4).

2. ACP and DKA are same
ACP = Array Control Processor; terminology used by software people
DKA = Disk Controller Adapter; mostly used by hardware engineers

3. Did you mean HDD instead of HDU? The simplest way of identifying the connection is to look into the XP hardware manuals (HP calls them Maintenance Manuals and they are not available for customers). These connections are pre-defined; every HDD or diskshlef is predefined to connect with designated DKA and DKA-port(s).

Hope that helps.

Re: xp24000 storage

Hi

1) Where did you find the term B4, it is not clear to me in what contect it is mentioned

2) ACP and DKA is actually the same.
In XP256 till XP12000 it was called ACP, starting with XP24000 it is called DKA.

3) Find attached a wiring drawing of the XP24000. As you can see DKA set 1 connects to HDU Box R0, the two boxes in R1 lower and R2 lower and so on.

Cheers
