Storage Essentials java error - CommunicationException: Failed to retrieve Naming interface

[ Edited ]

We're getting a java error when trying to go into Capacity Manager or Performance Manager within Storage Essentials Version: 6.0.0 Build: 6.0.4.162. Has anyone else ran across this before?

Running on Windows 2003 Server SP1. Get the error with IE & Firefox. Tried re-installing several versions of java to no avail.

Error Message

Re: Storage Essentials java error - CommunicationException: Failed to retrieve Naming interface

I would suggest opening a support case via the SSO portal for this issue. http://support.openview.hp.com.

Be sure to provide details on what versions are in use for Storage Essentials and CommandView software.

The current shipping release of SE today is 9.5.0, with SP1 (aka 9.5.1) and CPE P02. The service pack and patch are available via SSO portal, SP1 is SESRM_00015.zip, found searching under "storage essentials srm" version "9.5.0". The P02 is SESRM_00017.zip, found searching under version "9.5.1". http://support.openview.hp.com/selfsolve/patches

Storage Essentials 9.5.1 claims support for EVA models 4000, 6000, 8000, 4100, 6100, 8100, 4400, 6400, 8400, P6300 and P6500 running under EVA P6000 CommandView SBM v9.2, 9.2.1, 9.3, 9.4, 10.1 and 10.2.

Re: Storage Essentials java error - CommunicationException: Failed to retrieve Naming interface

Outside of the basics, such as confirming a supported browser version, and clearing caches (and testing using a browser directly on the CMS, versus from a remote host).

It is suggested to confirm that your CMS is up to date with the current patch (SE 9.5.1 CPE P03 - downloadable from the SSO portal as SESRM_00019.zip) http://support.openview.hp.com/selfsolve/patches. Search "storage essentials srm" and version "9.5.1"

And then to open a support case if the issue is outstanding:
