HP Procurve 2810 - Multicast/Microsoft NLB
One of my customer is using HP Procurve 2810 and he wants to configure Microsoft NLB. For this he wants to configure static Multicast MAC address in the switch's CAM table so that it knows how to switch multicast traffic appropriately instead of flooding. How can we do it ?
There is one command called static-mac used for MAC lockdown. Can we use the multicast address in the command ? And can we use two interfaces in this command if we use multicast MAC address. Or else how can I do that.
In other words is there any similar command in Procurve of the below which is in Cisco.
mac-address-table static 0100.5e7f.3359 vlan 51 interface GigabitEthernet2/0/5 GigabitEthernet1/0/5

Re: HP Procurve 2810 - Multicast/Microsoft NLB
read : http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb742455.aspx
read carefully the unicast and multicast sections.
microsoft advices to use a seperate vlan,
containing only the hosts from the NLB, so flooding is only within this vlan!

Re: HP Procurve 2810 - Multicast/Microsoft NLB
Hi,
I have some info about HP Procurve 5300 switches regarding Microsoft multicast NLB. It works without entering static ARPs. More info here: http://solutiondumps.blogspot.com/2011/01/microsoft-nlb-and-hp-procurve-switches.html
