Octets threshold?

What are octets thresholds used for?

I've got a switch that is reporting this critical alert:
Crossed Octets threshold for segment: 10.10.10.10_port_8_(shared)

What does crossing an octets threshold typical signify - hardware failure, cable failure...?

Re: Octets threshold?

Well, now I feel dopey for not having found that in the FAQ myself. But thank you.

Re: Octets threshold?

It seems that you have a hub (shared media) on port 8 of your switch. Maybe it's a good ideea to replace it with a switch.
