Connecting to my managed switch

Hi. I have an old 3com 2848 sfp plus switch. I tried to use the 3com discovery tool to connect to it but I keep on getting an error message saying that WS2Ping.dll network failed. I have reset the switch and I still get the same error. I was wondering if you could help me because 3com has been brought by hp.
