Hi All,
Here's the sysDescr.0 for the device
HP J4121A ProCurve Switch 4000M, revision C.09.19
Is there a way to find out the serial number for this device ?
Is there a matirx available that tells me which switches support IPv6 or not ?
TIA,
Vikas

Re: How can I find serial number for ProCurve Switches thru SNMP
vikas,
the 4000 is a L2 switch so it will switch any ethernet frame whether it's encapsulating a ipv6 or ipv4 packet. so the answer is yes, you may use the 4000 in a ipv6 network.

If a problem can be fixed, there's nothing to worry. If a problem can't be fixed, worrying ain't gonna help. Bottom line: don't worry.

Solution
Hi Vikas,
You can get the serial number using SNMP. Here is the private MIB OID:
iso(1).org(3).dod(6).internet(1).private(4).enterprises(1).hp(11).nm(2).hpWebMgmt(36).hpHttpMgMod(1).hpHttpMgObjects(1).hpHttpMgNetCitizen(2).hpHttpMgSerialNumber(9)
Cheers
