modem not run

After a reformat on the hard drive. i have a few problems with the instalation of win, but i can. the great problem was that my modem , a conexant can??t conect with the internet, because it doesn??t make the phone call, after i change the modem for a us robotic, i can, but with a very low perfomance, i review de drivers, but there were good.
sorry for my english, it??s not good. pleas help me!!

What PC and OS are you running? Usually the Conexant is a builtin modem and the driver is modified by the PC maker so you need a driver from them. The generic one usually won't work.
