Adding external DDS

Hello,

I'm trying to add an external DDS to my HP-UX system but when I execute ioscan command it haven't found any new device.

I think it could be due I'm using same SCSI port was used by an external DVD.

Should I remove DVD device from system before connecting new external DDS?
is restart system needed to detect new device?

FYI, server is a HP 9000 and OS is HP-UX 11.00.

Thanks in advance for your help.
Regards,

Carles

Re: Adding external DDS

Carles,

Also after creating the new device files with insf, you want to check if you have the device drivers for the new tape device,
you want to go to sam and when installing the tape device verified that the drivers are listed, if they are not you will have to rebuild the kernel to add those.

Re: Adding external DDS

HI Carles,

This is a issue related to the scsi id of dvd and the dds drive. try to chnage any of the scsi id of the device ( there may be any switch or jumper setting will be there for changing the settings)

and it may require to reboot the system to detect the device.

for info id 7 normally using for the scsi controller

Re: Adding external DDS

also make sure the device is properly terminated.
