CIFS/9000 Client: cannot write to Windows-Share other than root

Hi,

I need to mount a share from a Windows 2000-Fileserver.

As i root i issue:

cifsmount /// /mnt -U Administrator

After entering Administrators password, i am able to write / read file and directory to and from the share.

If i su (su - due817) to oracle-user "due817" (primary group dba) i cannot even 'cd' to /mnt -- permission denied !

On Windows all Users (and even 'Administrator' got Full-Access-Rights).

Any help ?

To the best of my knowledge, you need to login to the share with each client user. So if you su to due817, after su'ing, you need to execute
cifslogin
where the serverusername is Administrator or whatever win2k username you want that user to use. You can put the password in the cifslogin call, but that's usually a bad idea as it'll show up in a shell history or on a ps.

I imagine this (having to logon for each client user) is so that different users can logon to the share as different win2k users, depending on their share and perm needs.

Hope it helps.

To complete matt answer,
with cifsclient/9000, there's also a feature to create a permanent mapping of users, by this way, you don't have to cifslogin for each user
