Connection closed issue with proftpd

Hi,
I have configured proftpd server in inetd mode
one one box.It was running till yesterday night and today I find that I am not able to connect.
Here's what I am getting when I try to connect
to port 21.
Strange enough,I have proftpd configured on secondary box and with the same configs its running fine...

root # telnet serveripaddress 21
Trying...
Connected to serveripaddress.
Escape character is '^]'.
Connection closed by foreign host.
Please help!!!

Re: Connection closed issue with proftpd

In Addition to the above information-If I enable regular ftp in inetd.conf.It just works fine!!

Re: Connection closed issue with proftpd

Check for messages in syslog. Also try to run proftpd in debug mode.

There are no messages in syslog...not even about accepting connection.

Re: Connection closed issue with proftpd

Ok..now if I try to run it in standalone mode,it's listening on port 21,but I am getting connection error at client using coreftp(I have always worked with coreftp with proftpd)and there's nothing at all in syslog.log
