D250 to D380 upgrade - Preserving Boot Disk

current system D250 with single ended SCSI internal boot disk.
Upon upgrading to D380 will replace these with Fast/Wide internal disks.
Any suggestions for a strategy to preserve/ copy the contents of the boot disks to the new disks?

install to your D250 Ignite/UX
http://www.software.hp.com/products/IUX/index.html
run 'make_recovery -A# to tape
Upgrade to D380
Boot from recovery tape

Downlaod and install the software and do the archive with the following command: make_recovery -ACv -d /dev/rmt/0m http://www.software.hp.com/products/IUX/download.html

1 - install Ignite in D250 server
2 - Make a recocovery
3 - Upgrade your server to D380 and verify if all is ok
3 - and reboot from your tape and make update

Thank you all for that flurry of replies. the general consensus is comforting too!

As a further question; will there be any "gotchas!" regarding device files/ hardware paths of disks in an attaches external array after the upgrade and recovery?
Can these issues be worked through after the event?
