DRD to rehost virtual partition to new HW

Hi,

we are plannig to rehost a couple of virtual partitions living today on an Integrity Superdome

to a couple of Integrity rx2800i2 servers: we would like to use DRD to do the clone.

Do you thing it is even feasible? Any special/BIG issue to take care of?

Thanks in advance.

Yes, You can do it which is a very good option instead of Ignite restore.

I think that should work. Some things to keep in mind:

  1. Make sure the vPars have the latest patch bundles installed, especially the latest HWE (Hardware Enablement) bundle so that you have the appropriate drivers available for the I/O on the new servers.
  2. When you boot the DRD image your VG00 will likely be  named something like VG00_DRD.  This can be changed, but it requires manipulation of the VG while booted in LVM maintenance mode.
  3. If you are going to have the vPar running and the new server running at the same time for testing purposes, then you will need to make sure that you change the IP address on the new server so that you don't have duplicate IP addresses (easily done from single-user mode).
