Check the above path in ioscan -fnCdisk command and see if it is still claimed or not. It may be going bad pretty soon. Check which volume group is using it. you can check it from "strings /etc/lvmtab" command.

run following command and see if you get any errors.
dd if=/dev/dsk/CXXtYYdZZ of=/dev/null bs=1024k

also you can check it from cstm command.

Re: Disk at hardware path 0/4/0/0/4/1.1.0 : Software configuration error

run cstm

sel dev 'device number'
info
il

see if you have a huge amount of read or write errors.

For me, software config error is usually a problem with the lvmtab or you might have stale inodes if mirrored.

run
lvscan /dev/vgxx/lvolx | grep -i stale

on that physical volume to see if anything is stale.

thanks!

Hi Jacqui,
The event is nothing to worry about, in general, and it should be possible to stop it happening.

Can you post the full event details? There are a number of possible causes, and the solution would depend on disk type, FW level and OnlineDiags version, all of which are included in the full event details.

Re: Disk at hardware path 0/4/0/0/4/1.1.0 : Software configuration error

Just when I finally managed to post, I notice you have already given the details.

You have the A.29.00 version of the OnlineDiags, which is a very old version (Dec 2001). First thing to do is update to a current version, which may well fix the problem.

http://h20293.www2.hp.com/portal/swdepot/displayProductInfo.do?productNumber=B6191AAE
is the place to get the latest version, which is A.44.00 for 11.00. You should then also apply PHSS_34834.

The FW is HP01, so should be a supported disk.
