Does NIS Clients on hpux still require NIS SLAVE Servers on subnets?

As of Solaris 2.x the NIS Cients no longer require a NIS Slave servers to handle cross subnet communications with the NIS Master Server. Does the NIS Client in HPUX, 10.2, 11.0, 11.11, 11.23, 11.31 require a NIS SLAVE server to communicate to a master server on a different Subnet?
