HP UX 11.23 install
am doing a two clean installs of 11.23 (One of March and the other June 2006 releases). According to Appendix D HP-UX 11i v2 Software Bundles. http://docs.hp.com/en/5991-2701/apds06.html. It states "You can deselect any of these bundles before you install or update your system." Because of our requirements we do not need to install Apache and associated apps. With this information I unselected hpuxwsApache, hpuxwsTomcat, hpuxwsWebmin and hpuxwsXml so these items will not be installed. However they do install and during the install phase it indicates these are being installed because of other files dependencies. What is the proper procedure to not installed Apache and associated apps? What are the other dependancies and can they be "de-selected" during the install process. Thanks

Re: HP UX 11.23 install
David
I'm not sure how you deselect it and get it to do it for definate it has just general worked for me in the past with other bundles.
I generally just do the install and then swremove anything i don't require after the installation is complete. As to why these bundles were installed I suspect it relates to the new Management Interface (replacement for SAM) which is web based, although I could be wrong.
If you check your swinstall.log it should tell you why these were still installed, even after you requested it not to. Failing that if you uninstall after the OS installation is complete, it should tell you what things depend on it.

Re: HP UX 11.23 install
David, as you said they were dependencies for something else at the time of installation.
Just do an swlist -l product | grep -i apache
Get the correct name for the programs that you want to uninstall and then just do a swremove on those programs.
That would get rid of them.
Regards,
Jaime.

Work hard when the need comes out.

Re: HP UX 11.23 install
Shalom,
Proper procedure is to swremove the hp web suite after the installation. That assumes you are unable to find it on the software tab of the Ignite Interface during installtion.
Its not worth losing too much time, I generally swremove it after or upgrade it to the current version after install regardless.
Do install the June 2006 bi-annnual patch bundle and the March 2003 bundle on your systems. I also recomend Hardware Enablement from the same location as well.
You don't mention your hardware, but getting the firmware up to date is quite helpful for long term system stability as well.
