How to re-install from DVD at remote serial console of superdome's onboard admin.

Please tell me how to re-install hp-ux from DVD on already installed server.

I installed hp-ux to superdome blade server using HP blade system onboard administrator's remote serial console, but the installation was fail at final stage of coping files to system disk because of DVD's IO error.

I want to re-install from DVD, but remote serial console selected local disk vmunix.
Would you please tell me how to re-install hp-ux  from DVD?

I heard this DVD IO error is known, so I already used usb DVD, so no problem occurred DVD's IO error.

Just insert the DVD into the built-in drive, assign it to the n- or vPar and let the system boot from.

Hope this helps!

Re: How to re-install from DVD at remote serial console of superdome's onboard admin.

Thank you for your response.

But in my case, the nPar(the server) was booted from LOCAL vmunix,

because this installation made vmunix on local disk.

So I want force installation from DVD disk.

I tried to "autoboot -d", and then this server can not boot from local vmunix,

but also DVD.

Re: How to re-install from DVD at remote serial console of superdome's onboard admin.

As said, connect the local DVD and boot from - example:

OA> set partition dvd connect 1:2

The DVD drive in enclosure 1 has been connected to the partition 1:2.

You may also use the virtual media DVD.

Hope this helps!

Re: How to re-install from DVD at remote serial console of superdome's onboard admin.

Thank you again,

I can not understand "boot from DVD" maybe.

My operation were followings:

1.already installed HP-UX from DVD but failed to copy files

so vmunix in local disk is invalid.

2.insert DVD media and connect to the target server using inside window

3.invoke remote serial console

4.enter "reset" (after prompt "Shell>")

5.boot from local disk's vmunix and fail to boot because vmunix was invalid

6. I can see prompt "HP-UX>"

7. setauto -d (to be disable booting from local disk)

8.insert DVD media and connect to the target server using inside window

9.enter "reset" (after prompt "Shell>")

I'm not sure I can't see the message,

 " fso: remote cdrom" or

 "welcome to HP-UX install media"

DVD media was not connected to the target server?

If you did a fresh installation and it did not work, you should not repair something, but start over with another fresh installation.

Hope this helps!

Re: How to re-install from DVD at remote serial console of superdome's onboard admin.

EFI recognized DVD device as fs4.

DVD installation succeeded by following steps,

 1) Shell>fs4:

 2) fs4>INSTALL.EFI

I'm not sure why EFI(?) boot manager could not list DVD device as boot device.
