Re: Hp-UX 11i Booting problem

Hi,

There is a typing error in S998vgenable

It must be /sbin/vgchange instead op /sbin/vgchnage

Modify your script.

Re: Hp-UX 11i Booting problem

Hi,

You have mentioned "when we are booting it its giving message /sbin/rc2.d/S998vgenable /sbin/vgchnage :not found" If the vgchnage in your post is not a typing mistake then please check your S998vgenable script and correct the vgchnage to vgchange
If you have typed in the post incorrectly then check ls -l /sbin/vgchange.
I suspect your script has vgchange misspelled.

Re: Hp-UX 11i Booting problem

I would also like to see the rc.log. Also can you paste in the display messages?

And try this procedure fron single user mode:

# sh -x /etc/rc.config

This debug command of rc.config should be capture to a file.

Re: Hp-UX 11i Booting problem

Have any changes been made to the server recently. I would suggest you to check the current patch level. If possible run patch assessment
1) open the page ==> http://www1.itrc.hp.com/service/patch/assessSystemsPage.do?BC=main|
2) click on "select a system to assess or upload new system information"
3) Download the script "swainv ". Right click on this and save to the system
4) Transfer this file to the HP-UX system. If ftp is used, then select binary mode of transfer.
5) Go to the directory in HP-UX system where the script "swainv " is loaded and give the executable permission by using the command " chmod 700 swainv "
6) Execute the script as " ./swainv "
7) This will generate a file called "inventory.xml" in current directory.
8) Transfer the file to the system which has got access to ITRC site.
9) Use the above link " http://www1.itrc.hp.com/service/patch/assessSystemsPage.do?BC=main " again and upload the "inventory.xml" to ITRC by clicking "submit".
10) click on " display candidate patches". The site will give the recommendations.
11) click on "create assessment report". This will give consolidated report.
12) Check at the line " Patches recommended by InstalledPatchAnalyzer (summary)" for recommendations.

Re: Hp-UX 11i Booting problem

Hi,

also:
check /etc/PATH and add '/usr/lib' to it.
