Is there vgcfrestore command for IA64 servers
if126:/etc/lvmconf> vgcfgrestore -n vg00 /dev/rdsk/c3t0d0s2
vgcfgrestore: Could not open Physical Volume "/dev/rdsk/c3t0d0s2".
How do we replace a disk and restore the LVM configuration on this IA64 server, so we don't have to reduce out the mirrors? Thanks,, Ed...

Re: Is there vgcfrestore command for IA64 servers
Do a pvchange -a n /dev/dsk/cxtydz on the new disk, then do the vgcfgrestore and then finally a pvchange -a y /dev/.....
Regards,
Jaime.

Re: Is there vgcfrestore command for IA64 servers
yes the command is there. If it were not there or not on the path, the system response would be:
not found
ioscan -fnCdisk
See if the disk is present and functioning in any way.
xstm for diagnosis.

Re: Is there vgcfrestore command for IA64 servers
its telling you that it cannot restore as there are no aprtitions been created like Patrick has said
you need to first prepare the drive and divide it up into 2 or3 partitions like the other drive. this depends upon whether its 11.22 or 11.23 installed
you use a utility called idisk for this.
I've attached a doc which shows you the steps for mirroring a drive on itanium, it doesnt have all the standard lvm commands for vgcfgrestore but has all the other bits for partitioning the drive and populating the other sections and checking them
