Hi,
I am having a problem exporting a display from a HP-UX server to a PC and was told to run the command xdpyinfo to get some diagnostic information. For some reason it is not on my server. Can anyone advise what I need to install/reinstall to get this command on ?
/usr/contrib/bin/X11/xdpyinfo

Hello Gerard,
you can download it from http://hpux.connect.org.uk/hppd/hpux/X11/Core/xdpyinfo-1.17p1/.
If the problem persists, please give more informations like
- what systems?
- what operating systems?
- any error messages?
- what application?

Re: Package including xdpyinfo ?
fyi xdpyinfo comes as part of the HPUX X11 filesets bundled with the CDE runtime Enviroment ... if this is missing maybe other important filesets are to.
fyi you'll need dtlogin (most likely running) on the hpux server and I suspect xdpyinfo will not be of much use since it requires a display to run on ... since you are having problems it may fail with a can't open displayname mesg ....
I'd advise detailing your exact problem here ....

Re: Package including xdpyinfo ?
Dirk,
Thankyou very much for the quick response. I downloaded the utility and it works perfectly !
Alex,
Also appreciate your reply - I agree that it is worrying that this file is missing and it may be a symptom of worse things. CDE is working well, though, and until I can get some extended time to perform maintenance on the system I am going to monitor things closely and prepare a contingency plan.
Again, thanks to both of you !
