Problem with network booting from Ignite server

I am attempting to net-boot a client to install HP-UX 11.00 from a Ignite server. I have created a CORE-OS depot on the Ignite server. However, when I attempt to boot from the network use: boot lan install

I am getting the following:

Booting...
Network Station Address 001083-f53521
System IP Address 144.14.193.81
Server IP Address 144.14.193.84

Boot IO Dependent Code (IODC) revision 2

HARD Booted.

ISL Revision A.00.38 OCT 26, 1994

ISL booting hpux (;0)/boot/INSTALL

Boot
: lan(0/0/0/0;0)/boot/WINSTALL

Can anyone tell me how I can get pass this boot issue and have the client boot and install HP-UX?

Thanks

Re: Problem with network booting from Ignite server

What model of box is the client and are there any instl_bootd errors on the Ignite/UX Server's /var/adm/syslog/syslog.log file? Also, what version of Ignite?

Re: Problem with network booting from Ignite server

Just another quick note. The client you are installing is going to 11.0 64 bit? If so, does the box support 64 bit and what's the output from the "model" command?

Re: Problem with network booting from Ignite server

Denver,

Both the client and the server that I am using are the N-class server with 6 cpu and 6 GB ram. Therefore, both system is 64-bit. There wans't any error files in the syslog.log because the client was couldn't get pass the network boot. I am not sure if this is a Ignite problem yet, because the client was not booted.

I get the following:

Booting...
Network Station Address 001083-f53521
System IP Address 144.14.193.81
Server IP Address 144.14.193.84

Boot IO Dependent Code (IODC) revision 2

HARD Booted.

ISL Revision A.00.38 OCT 26, 1994

ISL booting hpux (;0)/boot/INSTALL

Boot
: lan(0/0/0/0;0)/boot/WINSTALL

After which it just doesn't seems to do anything. Do I need to start any Ignite deamons?

Thanks

Re: Problem with network booting from Ignite server

Hi,

take a look at the file:
/etc/opt/ignite/instl_boottab

Have you choosen unique IP addresses within your network range ?
If not this could be the reason for your problem because the client has no route to your server.
