Quick snmp question

OK, I have to modify the /etc/snmpd.conf file to change the community strings. My question is, afterwards do I just have to bounce the daemon or do I have to restart all of the services under /sbin/init.d like SnmpHpunix?

Thanks in advance for the help.

Re: Quick snmp question

I would restart all of the Snmp* services.

Re: Quick snmp question

Thats what I was thinking, is that in lieu of restarting the snmpd? Is there a reread option for the snmpd to reread the snmpd.conf file, like there is for inetd.conf?

Re: Quick snmp question

I would do as Patrick suggested. It is better to start the deamons using the scripts for snmp.

man snmpd would give you very good info reg. your question.

Also look the logfile for snmp /var/adm/snmpd.log

Exactly. It says no reread option:

Re: Quick snmp question

Yes, no re-read configuration option available for snmpd like inetd so good choice is to recycle snmpd services.

ll /sbin/init.d/*Snmpd*
