The /etc/services and /etc/inetd.conf implementation
Hi all,
Config:
HP-UX 10.20
HP 9000/K580
I am trying to add in some services using the /etc/inetd.conf and /etc/services files. Unfortunatley it seems as if HP-UX doesn't allow you to put services in this way. I thought to be smart and checked out whether there would be a possibilty to add services using SAM, but there isn't.
Can anyone help me out?
Cheers,
Harm

Re: The /etc/services and /etc/inetd.conf implementation
Hi,
You can always update /etc/services and /etc/inetd.conf files, if you have to add your own services. after updating run
#inetd -c to re-read the files by inet service.
Can you specify what type of service you are looking to add. If you are looking to add some startup/shutdown scripts it is not the proper place.
best of luck.

Re: The /etc/services and /etc/inetd.conf implementation
Hi,
It depends on what type of services you wish to add on this. Please provide us some information on what type of services you are trying to add.
Thanks
Joey
