Upgrade HP-UX B.11.00 to B.11.23

I have 9000/800/L3000-7x HP server. Now planning to upgrade to 11.23. I heard direct migration 23 is not possible, instead 11.11 and then 11.23.
Should I get 11.11 media from HP now?
Please provide step by step procedure.

Shalom,

The L3000 is certified to run 11.23. You will need to upgrade the bios/firmware to do so.

You can not upgrade from 11.00 directly to 11.23

You will be better off doing a cold install with 11.23 media.

Technically you could go 11.00 to 11.11 upgrade and then upgrade to 11.23

In the lab the first step of the process failed for me 65% of the time.

Take my advice. Go for the cold install.

After cold install if I restore /opt and /var/opt from backup will the application work? This may be a foolish question, please excuse..

you should check the compatilbility of your application with the hp ux 11.23, and if its possible to run it with aries and xpade.

Was the software installed with swinstall? Is there any configuration needed?
Any changes in /etc/?
