Using chroot for an ftp user

We've used chroot to set the path for an ftp user and we only want them to write to this directory without the ability of 'cd' to another path.

Help on the above would be much appreciated.

Re: Using chroot for an ftp user

Managed Services,

You are setting yourself up for a lot of work on /etc/ftpd/ftpaccess, and /etc/inetd.conf.

It is possible to do this, but requires a lot of ITRC forum entries and notes to get through to find all the information.

Best of luck! Ian

Re: Using chroot for an ftp user

Hi,

Use "ftpaccess" if you are using 11.0 and above. Do "man ftpaccess" to know more about the options available with verious keywords in ftpaccess.

Try this link on how to setup ftpaccess,

http://support1.itrc.hp.com/service/cki/docDisplay.do?docLocale=en_US&docId=500000000092476

Hope this helps.

Re: Using chroot for an ftp user

Hi

Thanks for the replies you've sent on this topic. Unfortunately the system in question is running on HP-UX 10.20 - life would be easier if they'd upgraded to 11.00 hey!

Thanks
