Vgmodify - HPUX 11iv2 systems

I have a volume group where the max_pv setting has been reached (act_pv = cur pv = max pv). Can I using VGMODIFY to increase the max AND with no impact on current PVs or LVs in the VG?

Depends on how your current volume group is structured and whether or not its a root volume group. I've attached a doc for a better explanation.

Do I needed to de-activiate the volume group before I increase the max_pv setting?

Hi (again) Tom:

No. From the 11.31 manpages (which in this case should apply to 11.23): "...on volume groups version 1.0 that are deactivated or activated in standalone or exclusive mode only. The command will fail on volume groups activated in shared mode." SAince you are running 11.23 your volume groups are version 1.0.
