Re: X-server can not be started

I need the "good" C-8000 to run for the next hour.

Meanwhile I will check the inside of the bad one and will try to swap the cards later.

Re: X-server can not be started

Hi,

I rebooted the system but still, the same problem was there (including the LED lights).

graphinfo: unable to open device file at /dev/crt

> Red lights always on after reboot?
Yes
> Check if the card sits properly!
Sits properly (I even clean the place with compressor air)
>Check for additional power (?)
Not found

> You could also test another slot ...
see below

Now I open the machine and open the release card, then release the APG connectors screws from the rear panel (in order to swap between 2 graphic cards).

But I can't pull out the card from the slot and I don't want to use much power.

Is there any "trick" there ? Is there any user guide for that?

Re: X-server can not be started

OK, I found how to do it... :)

Well now, after I swaped between the cards no Orange lights on the both rear and fron panel.

But still, graphinfo gives " unable to open device file at /dev/crt

Also, the same basic problem of this thread is there: X-server can not started.

Re: X-server can not be started

Have you reconfigured the kernel from the link I gave you?

Re: X-server can not be started

I followed the instructions of this thread:

http://h30499.www3.hp.com/t5/System-Administration/Getting-DLKM-is-not-initialized-in-dmesg/m-p/3616...

I attached the process results

I rebooted the system.

Still the same /dev/crt and dmesg problems.

I will try other solutions you offered.

Re: X-server can not be started

Hmmm - maybe it makes sense to uninstall CDE and re-install it again to get a kernel rebuild without error messages.

Do you have the os installation cds?
Also the latest SW- and HWE bundles?

Re: X-server can not be started

Hi,

I only have the OS and I have never installed some thing on my HP-UX.

Can you instruct me how to do it?
