.forward not including part of message

Hi,

I am forwarding root's emails to my Outlook...however, the part that I need (shown below) is not forwarding. It is the very top of the email. Any ideas?

Message 25/25 cipo-ux1 Sep 15, 2006 01:00:55 pm -0400

Re: .forward not including part of message

How are you forwarding?

Ideal way is via /etc/mail/aliases :

# Local aliases
root : sysadm
sysadm : gwild
gwild : gwild@mydomain.com

then issue a newaliases command.

Where do you get this message? If it is not saved in the text file which comes to your outlook then you won't be able to see it.

Re: .forward not including part of message

I just have the .forward and then my smtp mail account. If it did it with aliases, as you posted above, will that include the part of the message that I require?

Thanks!

Re: .forward not including part of message

Hi Coolmar,

What you have pasted in is the first three lines of a message in elm. The first line:

Message 25/25 cipo-ux1 Sep 15, 2006 01:00:55 pm -0400

is generated by the elm mail reader, and therefore, is not embedded anywhere in the message. The other two lines are self-explanatory, and should appear in Outlook.

Oh Darn...it is that first line that elm generates that I need.

Re: .forward not including part of message

Well...that info should be in the header of the email in Outlook - Open the email and click on "View -> Options"

You should see cipo-ux1 and the date.
