lsof doesn't show anything and it remain waiting until control+break
Hello,
We have installed lsof 4.84 on HPUX 11.31 Itanium. The installation finished without errors, so it should be working fine, but instead it remains waiting and does not show anything (/usr/local/bin/lsof).
Our system: HP-UX tebas B.11.31 U ia64 3001793080
Do you know how to solve this problem?
Thank you,
Regards.

Re: lsof doesn't show anything and it remain waiting until control+break
Alberto,
Maybe try the HP version rather than the version from the HP-UX Software Porting & Archive Centre?
It's slightly older and available as part of the Internet Express bundle:
https://h20392.www2.hp.com/portal/swdepot/displayProductInfo.do?productNumber=HPUXIEXP1131
Unfortunately both versions are not officially "supported" by HP. lsof is an open source "contributed" product, so you have to go back to the developer ultimately to try and resolve some issues.
One thing I would consider though - lsof make heavy use of the pstat system call, so I would take a look at pstat patches in the HP-UX patch database, and consider applying the latest pstat cumulative patch and its dependencies.
I am an HPE Employee

What particular lsof command options did you use?
There was a problem on PA where the lsof calls would take a long time due to lots of memory regions due to a bug in dld.sl.
