packing up of database on hpux machine..problem
Every day night,We are taking the backup(packing) of databases on HPUX-machines.Till last week it was went fine.backup window was 3 to 4 hrs.
last weekend we had one shutdown activity(only reboot).after that backup is taking more time (backup window is ~9hrs).
Today i started backup on Linux machine it's going fine.
why suddenly backup window increated on hpux machine.

a reboot can change your system configuration
if not properly set up.
Start checking
DNS configuration
Network configuration 10/100/1000 duplex...

What are you using to back up your database? Where are you backing it up to (local filesystem, tape, network, etc?) If you narrow down the possible problem areas it would be easier to troubleshoot.

Few general ideas, because the attachment and post provide little relavent information.
1) Compressing a backup often times takes 5 times longer than making it. Suggest getting the backup off the HP-UX system and let another less critical system pack up the files. NFS, backup and scp whatever your wishes.
2) Put a set -x in the backup scripts and see it there are errors.
3) check /var/adm/syslog/syslog.log for i/o errors and lbolts.

Sri ind,
Are you backing up the oracle chuck ? what kind of backup software you are using? Are you using offline backup or online backup ?
Your data provided is telling java process are occupying high memory usage.
