Re: root password changed

You may have to use single user mode to change your root password.

What is root's /etc/password entry?  That will tell when it expired.

Re: root password changed

Try logging in as root from the system console (either locally, or using iLO/MP remote console). Root may be able to login from the console even if the password is expired.

If you can use vipw(1m) or edit /etc/passwd, just remove the info off of the end of the password field.

It's a comma and 4 chars.

Re: root password changed

For Un-trusted boxes you can try rebooting the OS and in the Console type "hpux -is" for booting the OS into single user mode. There you can change the root password.

If the root password expired, try loggin into the same with a pre-configured user account who is having sudo rights. After loggin in as a sudo admin, you can change the root password from there...
