scan persistent dsfs after migrating from legacy to persistent dfs

I tried migrating to legacy ddsf to persistent dsf by using following command,

rmsf -L  (Which removes all the instances of the legacy dsf from the system)

Afetr running this command there were no dsfs found in the path /dev/dsk, as rmsf -L removed all the legacy devices.

After this when I ran ioscan -funC disk command, to scan the and list devices, I was not able to see any disk devices. Can some one tell me what went wrong here?

Re: scan persistent dsfs after migrating from legacy to persistent dfs

Hi,

try with

# ioscan -m lun

# ioscan -m lun /dev/disk/diskX

# ioscan -kfnNC disk

Thanks

Re: scan persistent dsfs after migrating from legacy to persistent dfs

In HP-UX 11i v3 Persistent DSF Migration Guide, they say that after rmsf -L you won;t be able to list the disk deices. Then how admin can identify the disk devices?

Can some one guide me here?

Re: scan persistent dsfs after migrating from legacy to persistent dfs

Shalom,

Note that DRD guide notes that Legacy I/O must be enabled. This is certain for VxVM boot systems, and a probably for LVM(I have not checked.).

Also, there is an Ignite bug I learned about the hard way, with legacy I/O the system was unrecoverable. That was also a VxVM booted system. I don't know what the impact is on an LVM booted system.

Migrator be forwarned.
