sudo checks the ownership of its timestamp directory /var/run/sudo by default. what is the ownership of this directry?

Re: sudo: Can't open /var/run/sudo/admin/0: Read-only file system

Please run as root:

touch /var/test

If you get the same error, probably you had a problem with your disk storage that caused the file system to go to read only mode.

This problem occurs frequently on Vmware VM installations and sometimes on SAN boot configurations.
