Re: tranfer file from thumb drive to HP-UX

Hi,

Usb sticks/drives are not yet supported on HPUX. The USB ports on HPUX systems are only designed for keyboards and mouse.

Re: tranfer file from thumb drive to HP-UX

Hi,
if by thumb drive you mean a USB pen storage, your best transfer is via the USB port onto a PC and then ftp from the PC to the HP box. Can you please that this is what you want to do?

If you are running on HP-UX 11i on an Itanium Integrity System -- I think that is possibe as USB Support per the Release Notes is supposed to be always installed.

Re: tranfer file from thumb drive to HP-UX

On later versions of servers/HP-UX, if you see support for booting from USB, then accessing files on a USB drive _may_ fall into the "unsupported but not known to not work" category of "supported" vs "works" in HPspeak:

Supported, known to work -> warm fuzzies all around
Supported, not known to not work -> an HPite may be in trouble
Supported, known to not work -> an HPite is in trouble
Unsupported, known to work -> lucky today, unlucky tomorrow?
Unsupported, not known to not work -> there but for the grace of Turing
Unsupported, known to not work -> no, it was not deliberate ;-)

Re: tranfer file from thumb drive to HP-UX

As several have already mentioned you can only access the thumb on a PC.
If you install (and configure) CIFS on your HP-UX box you can drag'n'drop from the thump on the PC to the share on HP-UX.
